![]() When they arrived, they behaved distant and rude, didn't made any sort of civilised attempt to let us know who they were (vital in this setting of kind of ex family home, warmed atmosphere place as Mr Lima shaped it along the years.) they just sat around being bossy showing who was in charge. With a stay at CabaƱas Casa Maya Holbox Frente Al Mar in Isla Holbox, you'll be just steps from Main Square and Holbox Church. ![]() The new lease holder and his group certainly have a lot to learn in the manners department from the charming staff. I honestly can't see how people don't care about their pets education, the other guests comfort and their peace of mind. This dog also arrived with the new leaseholder. Barking dog inside the living room (this hotel is been converted from a house, it's lovely but obviously our room's door is contiguous to it), he was allowed to stay there for long periods of time constantly barking, also as we walked inside with our 3y/o boy, the dog had to be catch in order to stop it from reaching him as he ran towards him. The only things we didn't enjoy: Whilst our boys where having their afternoon naps -Chopsaw and building noise from the bar they are building in our hotel, we comprehend they are enhancing the place and it's a really great thing, but when I shared with the lease holder that we had our two little ones sleeping 4 meters away behind a glass door whist he begin to chop a 2 inches thick plank of wood, he replied those where the only two cuts he was going to do and kept on going. The music can be a little punchy from next door bar in our seafront room but usually nice, we could stay well with our two little ones for five days. Good room and even that the side door didn't open and I had to repair the mosquito net on the window with some tape myself we had no problems. The working staff are true jewels, Nabor, Lucas and the cleaning lady are professional yet kind, have great common sense, are genuinely good hosts and exemplary human beings, they always have time for anything you may need and they made our stay very pleasant. Great to be back at Casa maya, our favourite part is the warmth of the people there and we didn't find Mr Lima at the hotel, instead we found out it had changed admin. Too bad the administration changed, it seems it used to be a nice place to stay at, but NOT ANYMORE. Though we lost half of our day frustrated due to this awful experience. I'm just glad they understood why I was unsattisfied, so I had a complete refund. I came back and my boyfriend said the guys maybe didn't think he could understand spanish, and they were complaining about my reactions. All I could do is ask my boyfriend to stay and watch the luggage, then I looked for another place to stay, I found a cleaner place, with a kind service from a family at the very center, in front of the plaza, for a quarter of what we were supposed to pay at Casa Maya. a tiny room with view to the loby that blocked the beach. The closest thing to a beachfront was at the floor level and had a blocked view, and it was taken by somebody else, so I asked the kid where our "beachfront" was. Then I wondered where the "beachfront" we paid for was. So basically, they lied to us, and risked our belongings to be taken away from us. I took it back in the common room to see there were people taking their stuff out of their lockers. We went having breakfast and when we were back, our luggage was UNATTENDED. He said that there weren't, but we could leave our stuff at the "lobby" which was located on plain public beach. We were hungry so we asked him if there were any lockers to store our luggage. He told us our room would be cleaned at 12. Everything seemed dirty and we had to stay a few hours before a kid/teenager arrived. Second warning: it seemed there was little or no maintenance at all around. ![]() We could hang around the hotel so there is no security at all.
